••••••>ON GINGIVITIS

Gum disease is also called gingivitis. It is a periodontal disease with inflammation and infection of the tissues that surround and support the teeth. Plaque gathers around the teeth for a long period of time and causes gingivitis. Plaque is caused by bacteria feeding on the food particles that are trapped in between the teeth or anywhere else in the mouth. Plaque on the enamel of the tooth causes tooth decay which keeps on spreading to the neighbouring teeth and gums. The gums become swollen and tender. The patient suffers from bad breath. Gingivitis can also be caused due to excessive brushing of teeth and some form of injury in the mouth.

Gingivitis may especially occur during pregnancy or poor health of an individual. Poor dental hygiene, poor alignment of teeth and diabetes can also cause gum disease. The symptoms of Gingivitis are swollen and sore gums, mouth sores, bleeding gums and shiny appearance on gums.

During gum disease treatment inflammation needs to be reduced considerably. The teeth will be cleaned properly by the dentist. The dentist will have to use many instruments and it will be a time consuming process to peel off the accumulated plaque from the teeth. Then any other illnesses and diseases will be treated. The patient will be advised ho to brush and floss correctly and observe good dental hygiene. After gum disease treatment, the patient will have to use antiseptic mouth rinses and pay careful attention to dental hygiene. He will have to visit his dentist often. Good oral hygiene is the only solution to getting rid of Gingivitis forever and making sure that it does not recur.

Dental implants are root structures that are usually made of titanium. These are used to support other structures like dentures. Dental implants NYC are placed within the bone and will fuse with the bone as time passes. Dental implants NYC have become common and dentists use them very often as part of the dental treatment. A hole is drilled into the bone carefully without disturbing all the other delicate and vital structures around the tooth. Then the titanium implant is screwed into the hole. Usually, dentists will allow six to eight months for this implant to fuse with the surrounding bone and proper healing to take place before they go further with the procedures.

If the dentist is properly trained and the implant is placed carefully, the success rate may be as high as 95 %.

  1. Gingivitis is considered to be a bacterial infection of the gums. The exact reason why gingivitis develops has not been proven, but several theories exist.

  2. Having a dentist that you see on a regular basis is very important, as a dentist can tell you what you might be doing wrong when it comes to brushing, or they can help remove any sort of pain you might have within your mouth. It is important that you see your dentist every six months to a year in order to get a deep cleaning as well as a full dental exam.
